2. A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Chanderi silk traces its roots to the 13th century in Madhya Pradesh, where royal patronage elevated it into a symbol of grace and refinement. Woven with zari, silk, and cotton threads on pit looms, authentic Chanderi fabric is famed for its feather-light texture and subtle shimmer. The hand block printing technique—passed down through generations—uses hand-carved teakwood blocks dipped in eco-friendly dyes to imprint intricate floral, jaal, or geometric motifs. This 3-piece suit honors that heritage, merging timeless artistry with contemporary silhouettes under the vision of Shanmuga Priya and her Azhagi Works label for ethnic elegance.

Craft

All of Ajrakh's ingredients are made from nature, including herbs, botanical essences, and natural minerals. Some of the common ingredients are wild indigo, pomegranate bark and seeds, and hardwoods. Camel dungs, which are abundant in the region, are used as a material to remove starch from the dough. In ancient times, Ajrakh was printed on both sides. The herders who traditionally wore Ajrakh left home before sunrise and could not distinguish the right side from the other side in the dark because there was no electricity at that time. That's why Ajrakh was printed in both sides.

The Art Behind Ajrakh

Heritage Craftsmanship

Woven in tradition, dyed in history.

Ajrakh sarees are an ancient block-printing marvel from Gujarat and Rajasthan. Each piece takes days to make and involves natural dyes, hand-carved wooden blocks, and meticulous detailing — making every saree a work of heritage and heart.

Naturally Dyed Elegance

Eco-conscious, skin-friendly, and timeless.

Made with vegetable dyes like indigo, madder root, and turmeric, these sarees are not just gentle on your skin — they’re gentle on the planet. The deep, earthy tones give a vintage yet contemporary charm.

Intricate Block Printing

Crafted with over 20 stages of handwork.

Ajrakh sarees are made using centuries-old block-printing techniques, where each motif is stamped by hand using hand-carved wooden blocks. The precision and patience involved give every saree a unique, artistic identity.

Soft on the skin, stunning in style.

Woven on fine cotton or silk bases, Ajrakh sarees are lightweight, breathable, and ideal for all-day wear. Whether you're dressing up for a long event or a quick evening out, these sarees offer unmatched comfort with effortless grace.
